Toxin Awareness Month

Toxin Awareness Month

Did you know that common human foods and medications are toxic to your pets?

Some of the most common food toxins that harm pets include:

  • Chocolate (dark chocolate is much more toxic than milk)
  • Grapes and Rasins
  • Xylatol (a common non-sugar sweetener found in gums, candy, toothpaste and other foods)
  • Onions and Garlic
  • Avacado

If your pets ingest any of these contact your veterinarian immediately, inducing vomiting in the first 2 hours is essential!

As the easter season apporaches also remember that Lilies are toxic to cats!

Please be aware of any poisons or toxins you may be putting out for pests, ensure that all of these are safely out of reach of your pets! When spraying your yard, be sure that you are using a spray that is non-toxic to pets, or keep your pets off the lawn for the recommended length of time.
