Dr. McKinzie was raised on a horse ranch in Eastern OK where her family raised Egyptian Arabian horses. She attended college and earned her Honors Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Oklahoma State University in 2002 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Upon graduation, Dr. McKinzie worked in a busy Equine hospital in North Texas where she focused primarily on Equine reproduction, including ultrasound techniques, emergency medicine, and mobile services. She returned to Oklahoma in 2009 and worked in Tulsa for the largest and busiest small animal hospital in Eastern Oklahoma which gave her valuable experience as a diagnostician, surgeon, and case manager.  Dr. McKinzie came to Lincoln County and joined LCAH in 2013 bringing her knowledge and experience which has allowed expansion of services to horses and expanded mobile services.

Dr. McKinzie is a devoted mother of two young sons and she and her husband, an Army veteran, enjoy traveling and take every opportunity to take their sons to new places. They are both avid OSU sports fans and take their children to any sporting event they can. On the LCAH ranch in Lincoln County, they continue to breed  Egyptian Arabian horses and have two Australian Shepherds and one cat.
